Floral Design Day is the perfect day to appreciate and create floral arrangements. Flowers are loved by all, especially the ladies. It seems only fitting that we have a day set aside to appreciate the creativity and artistic quality of flower arrangements.

The perfect activities for today include:

• Create a floral design with real, live, or dried flowers
• Take pictures of floral designs.
• View floral designs.
• Draw pictures of floral designs.
• Have the kids get in on the fun. Get out the crayons and let them draw floral designs for an aunt or a grandmother

This reminds me of when I took a Floral Design  for an extra credit in  high school at Naperville North, in Napereville, IL. I really enjoyed doing this so much, which is why Iove doing crafts and love gardening so much! I remember we had to cut flowers and stick them onto the green foam to make the flower arrangement. This class landed me a higher position in the floral department at Jewel Osco!! It was so nice, to move up from a bagger to the floral department and what helped me was having experience in that department. So every time I came home from school, got ready for work and was so excited to start a new job!=) It was nice because I worked in the evenings for a couple of hrs with no managers over your shoulder. My job was to make sure all the flowers were taken out of boxes, they were shipped in.   I had to get the black buckets and fill them up with water, put the plant food in their,cut the flower stems at the bottom,stick them in the buckets of water and set them on the floor around the display or on top. How easy was that. Than the flowers that had to be put in the cool room, you would always have to make sure you don't leave it open or the flowers will die or change the temperature. That was fun though!!=) That was one job I loved so much and would do something like that again!!=)

Public Sleeping Day celebrates the simple joy of taking a nap wherever the mood hits -- park bench, movies, airplane, subway, etc. Depending on your boss or teacher, work or school may be an option; though, do this at your own risk. If you get creative with some sunglasses and a good neck pillow, you may be able to pull this off without anyone noticing. ;)

Yeah don't we wish we could hit the snooze button when your alarm go's off, but sorry won't be happening here. I pretty much have a busy day everday and do wish sometimes I can sleep, but not possible with my work from home schedule. Must be alert and focus for my family and my home business!! Plus anyhow I have to make sure my son has eaten, clean clothes, coat,lunch box and coat before going out the door. He's really sneaky with me, and thinks he can get away with it.Kids just think us parents are so dumb LOL! They got another thing coming! Now that we have dog, I especially have to make sure he eats, drinks his water and relieves him self atleast twice a day! I do enjoy having Jasper, he gets me going everyday, by walking him morning and afternoons!=)

Chow Mein Bird’s Nest

Hatching a plan to have springtime fun with a crispy craft

A combination of sweet and savory, chow mein noodles make the perfect nest for colorful mini jelly beans. This edible craft is perfect for an Easter or spring-themed kids party. Be sure to closely supervise your kids if they are skilled enough to melt the butter and brown sugar on the stove. For younger kids, simply let them decorate the nests with jelly bean "eggs."

Ingredients:
1 cup (2 sticks) butter
1 cup firmly packed brown sugar
1 (5-ounce) can crunchy chow mein noodles
Miniature jelly beans

Directions:
1. In a small saucepan over medium heat, melt butter and brown sugar. Bring to a boil and stir until sugar is dissolved. Remove from heat and stir in chow mein noodles.

2. Divide chow mein noodle mixture into two buttered muffin tins and use your thumb (when just cool enough to touch) to press an indentation in the center of each nest. Let cool.

3. Invert nests and turn right side up. Fill with jelly beans.

Materials

• Work gloves
• Paper
• Scissors
• Felt
• Glue

• Plastic beads
• Wooden dowel
• Batting or newspaper
• Ribbon

Instructions

1. Set each work glove on a piece of paper and trace around the four fingers and palm but not the thumb. Cut out the thumbless hand shapes. Then trace around the thumbs and cut out those shapes.

2. Use the paper patterns to cut like shapes out of felt and attach them to the gloves with fabric glue.

3. Now you can embellish the tops of the gloves by gluing on felt "fingernails" and plastic beads (tacky glue works best with plastic items).

4. Once the glue is dry, slide the end of a wooden dowel into one of the gloves until it reaches the tip of the index finger. Then stuff that glove with batting or newspaper.

5. Tightly tie ribbon around the wrist to secure the glove to the dowel, and you're ready to start dusting.

• Scissors

• Embroidery thread and needle
• Button (optional)
• Self-adhesive Velcro dot (optional)

1. To make a cover, open your chosen book and measure the width and height. Add one inch to each measurement and cut out a piece of felt with those dimensions. For the inside flaps, cut two additional pieces of felt the same height as the main piece and two-thirds the width of the closed book's front cover.

2. Lay an inside flap on top of each end of the main piece and pin the flaps and the main piece together. With embroidery thread, sew a running stitch about 1/4 inch to 3/8 inch from the edge around the entire border.

3. If you like, add one of these extras:
   
   Notebook pocket: Before attaching the inside flaps, cut a piece of felt that's 1 1/2 inches wider and 1/2 inch shorter than your notepad. Sew it in the center of what will be the front cover of the book.
   
   Faux button closure: Before attaching the inside flaps, cut a strap that's 1 1/2 inches wide and as long as the width of an inside flap. Sandwich the strap between the back flap and the cover and pin it in place, then sew around the entire edge of the cover, as noted above. With scissors, round the end of the strap and sew on a button. Affix a self-adhesive Velcro dot to the strap and the front of the cover.
   
   Penholder: After the cover is finished and on the book, cut a 1 3/4-inch square out of felt. With the book cIosed, lay the square over a pen on the book's spine and pin it in place. Take the cover off the book, then sew on the square.

Due to disease and other factors, bee populations are declining, and fewer pollinating insects means trouble for crops and wild plants alike. You can help counteract this trend by building a simple home for orchard mason bees, a wildly productive pollinator found in most areas of the United States. The house offers holes sized perfectly for mason bee nurseries.

Mason bees are gentle, they don't swarm, and they rarely sting, making them a considerate guest in your garden. They lay eggs in the spring, so be sure to get your house out early.

Materials

• Ruler and pencil
• Handsaw or power saw
• 8-foot-long 1 by 10 board of pine, spruce, or fir (not pressure-treated)
• Tape
• Hammer

• 24 to 36 (1-1/2-inch) wire or finishing nails
• Power drill with a 5/16-inch (8 mm) brad-point bit at least 8 inches long
• Sandpaper
• Picture-hanging kit rated to hold 8 pounds or more

Instructions

1. Measure, mark, and saw off section 1 from the board, as shown in the diagram. Use it as a template to mark and saw the five matching pieces.

2. Stack the six pieces and temporarily wrap them with tape. Place the taped stack vertically on the remaining board and mark the base. Saw along the line. The remaining board is the roof.

3. Use the hammer and nails to attach the base and roof to each of the six pieces. Make sure the back of the roof is flush with the house's back. Remove the tape.

4. Mark holes every 1-1/2 inches on the front of the vertical pieces, then drill a hole 3 to 8 inches deep at each mark, avoiding nails. (The bees lay female eggs in the backs of the holes, male eggs closer to the front.) It's easier to drill the shallower holes on the outer boards. Smooth the openings with the sandpaper. Knock the sawdust from the holes.

5. Using the picture-hanging kit, mount the house facing south or southeast on a wall, fence, pole, or other support. Look for telltale mud walls inside the holes over time. Next spring, full-grown bees should emerge.

Toddlers love to make messes, and creating this craft is sure to please them. Follow the instructions below to have the kids make a beautiful picture frame. To contain the mess, work in a dishpan.

Materials:

• Picture frame with a wide border, at least 1.5 inches wide
• 4 to 12 large seashells
• Large bag of tiny shells, equaling at least three big handfuls (if you have not collected enough, hobby stores sell wonderful bags of them)
• Elmer's glue
• Shallow, rubber dishpan
• Rough sandpaper
• Scrap paper

Instructions:

1. Remove the picture glass from the frame. Place a piece of scrap paper inside the frame where you would insert a photograph. This will protect the area from glue smudges and shell fragments.
2. Use the rough sandpaper to scratch liberally all over the front and sides of the frame. This will provide a “tooth” for the glue to hold onto.
3. Place the frame inside the rubber dishpan. This will be the work area.
4. Allow your preschooler to squeeze puddles of glue onto the frame and place the large shells in the puddles.
5. Wait for the glue to dry. To speed up the process, place the frame in a sunny or breezy place. You know the glue is dry when it is clear.
6. Now for the really fun part! Allow your grandchild to squirt the glue all over both the shells and frame. The child can completely cover the whole frame in glue.
7. Take handfuls of the small shells and sprinkle them all over the glue. Pour as many as you have, patting them into the glue puddles as you go. Take the ones that fall off into the dishpan and press them into the glue again! Keep mushing them in every direction until there is little or no glue left visible. Keep a reserve of about a cup’s worth of shells.
8. Allow the frame to fully dry without moving or touching.
9. When dry, have your grandchild pick up the frame up and shake it upside down over the dishpan. Pick up the loose shells that fall and add them to the ones you reserved.
10. If there are any bare spots where the frame still shows, squirt glue in those spots and employ the same technique as before with the reserved shells. Let dry again.
11. Repeat step 10 until you run out of shells. You should end up with a wonderfully encrusted picture frame and a very messy dishpan!

Hubby and I watch it alot! Interesting and funny! Old man is Hilarious! He's always playing games on his computer, while the other guys do all the work. It's funny how people go in there thinking there going to be rich when they walk out of the pawn shop. LOL The old man is always getting on Rick, Chum, and Cory LOL!=)



My husband watches almost everyday and I do sometimes. It just amazes me how someone can eat that much and not get sick. I would just want a small sample of what he eats, but nothing spicy because I can not tolerate spicy foods!=)

I was born in the 80's at Andrews Air Force Base, in MD. My 32nd B day was on Saturday 11, 2012. Keep in mind I totally forgot my B day was coming and wondered how many people really would remember. Well anyhow my hubby comes home with a beautiful B Day Cake with pretty flowers, that reminded me of Spring. Ofcourse I wasn't feeling to great with this cold weather and crohns just don't mix very well. I had no make up on, but oh well.I only where make up if I go out and always have to wear the jewelry or bling bling lol. Well anyways Saturday they were calling for snow and I did not think it was going to snow and my 11 yr old son has been hoping and praying for snow. Well guess sure enough it snowed with big fluffy flakes coming from the white sky on my B day.  So maybe that was luck or a sign. My son ran outside with his hat, sweater and his puppy Jasper and played in the snow, even though he would not listen when I told him to put on a coat. Of course we all loved snow when we were kids, but when you have to drive in snow it becomes very dangerous, especially for truck drivers like my hubby. Any how so hubby started making chicken with provolone cheese and potatoes for my B day dinner and we than sat down to eat and of course it's still snowing. So after eating and having my smirnoff, here comes the cake and hubby puts the 3 and 2 candles for 32, which was brilliant. Well he lit the candles and turned off the lights and I made a couple of wishes and out went the candles after they sang the Happy B Day song  and we digged right into my yummy yellow cake with icing. Anyhow this was my first time as a grown up and mom being sung Happy Birthday too, which was very sweet of my hubby and son to do!=) The last fun B day I ever had was in MI, when I had a pinata and couple of friends over. I had a big snow white cake when I was a little girl. I had fun hitting the pinata and breaking it with all the goodies coming out.

Any how back to reality now, well I'm 32 yrs old. Not sure if I feel 32. Still feel young, which is a good thing. Plus as I always say your age is just a number. I mean some people are 60 but look like their 30, if you get the picture. Live a little, Laugh a little, Love a little and dream!!

I’m a 32 year old, half El Salvadorean and white, working from home mom to my son Nathaniel who is 11 yrs old going on 12, and wife to my wonderful hard working husband. We live in the Northern Neck of Virginia, USA with 2 cats and a dog. I was born on Andrews Air force Base in Maryland, USA. My mother is El Salvadorean and from San Miguel, but she never taught me Spanish. I am a military brat and I lived in California, Michigan, Florida, and Illinois. I’ve been in the retail business since I was a teenager, moving from job to job. I graduated from Garfield High School in Woodbridge, Virginia with the class of 1999. I then took a drafting course in Mayland, but found out that as a career, it wasn’t for me.

I met the man of my dreams at Super Fresh, a store in Woodbridge, Virginia and we ended up getting married a year later on March 1, 2000. I worked and he worked and we planned on starting a family. He landed a good job with Premium Distributors Of Virginia and I quit my job to stay home until I gave birth to our son. After he was born, I started work at a day care center, but found I needed to quit because my son was getting sick. This is what led me to search for something I could do from home to make money, so I could raise our son and enjoy every moment with him.

So here I am working from home, which turned out to be a very good thing due to my health. A couple of years after having my son, I was faced with a decision to live or die. I was diagnosed with Biliary Dyskinesia, which is a sick gallbladder that had to be removed or I would not be living anymore. Finally after an incredible number of tests and procedures, they removed my gallbladder. I ended up with two big ulcers and still had problems. Then came more pain, more tests, and more procedures, and ended up losing a lot of weight combined with having no energy at all.

Even worse, we were denied health insurance at a new job my husband obtained, because they said I had a pre-existing condition, gastro paresis. I had been put on a medication I wasn’t supposed to be on, that most likely ruined me inside and out. Last year my husband resumed a job with his old company Premium Distributors of Virginia, owned by Reyes Holdings. They gave us better benefits and now I’m finally covered under health insurance again. I went straight to a gastro doctor and had a procedure done and he diagnosed me with Crohns Disease. Now I’m on meds and will be for the rest of my life until there is a cure for Crohns. So this is why I stay at home and work from home.

I stumbled upon Cafemom years ago and they helped me find many opportunities. I tried many of them, but had no success.
